Welcome
Thanks for these corrections - some pretty gross errors there!
We ought to discuss the review methodology some time. Edward Ockham 05:37, 29 November 2018 (CST)
If you look at Authors/Ockham/Summa_Logicae/Book_I/Chapter_2 you can see the tick box in action. Authors/Ockham/Summa_Logicae/Book_I shows the colour coding for templates. However there is no code for copyediting work, which is what (I think) you are doing. Any thoughts welcome. Edward Ockham 05:41, 29 November 2018 (CST)
I agree that my efforts are copyediting or proofreading. I do not feel they are a blessing of the translation by a competent authority. I do not think that they warrant color coding. Thank you.
I have just translated the missing and untranslated portions of Summa Logicae, Book 1, Ch 49-53. You may want to check it and update the status as you see fit. Ch 52 and 53 are currently labeled as Untranslated. Thanks and best wishes.
Hello, I am back after a long hiatus and have started supplying translations for various chapters in Section 3 of Occam's Summa Logicae. I am not a professional logician, so I occasionally struggle with some terminology. Ultimately, it would be good to have a pro go through and make wording consistent, especially since there are multiple translators. I am making fairly rapid progress. Best wishes, Jim Cooper
Hello, It is good to hear from you. I am glad that the site is still active. Things were pretty quiet for a while. I am going through and editing the translation of Book 3 for accuracy and consistency. Over the course of translating, I came up with what I felt were better solutions, so I am going back through and bringing it all up to par. Plenty of typos to fix, too. I am changing the status to Reviewed by Translator as I go. I filled the gaps in the first 2 books, except for 13 chapters in book 2, which I will do when I finish the review of Book 3. Is there a way to generate a PDF or other document of the full text? I would like to have it in a portable format. I look forward to your improvements. There are a few chapters that were tough to translate, which could definitely use a rework. Thanks, and let me know when you are able to tackle it. I did my best to translate everything to English, to better serve a casual reader, although that is not as smooth as leaving technical terms like 'de possibili' in Latin. When we're done, we should give this some publicity, since it has never been fully translated before. Maybe update the Wikipedia page.
I finished a review of Book 3 and made many corrections and refinements. I am now working the untranslated chapters in Book 2. I put in a discussion on Book 2, Chapter 21 about "de inesse", which I have translated as "of inherence". I have finished the untranslated chapters in Book 2. Best wishes, Jim
- Hi. As I mentioned, I am finishing off the book but will review in May. Edward Ockham (talk) 16:15, 12 April 2025 (CDT)
Welcome back
Hello, thanks for this impressive effort. I am on a project until May, but I will work through your translation in time. Much of this has never been translated before. Edward Ockham (talk) 14:38, 21 March 2025 (CDT)
